The company BPREG was founded in 2017 in Izmir, Turkey. The focus of the successful start-up is the production of flat fiber-reinforced composites (NFC = natural fiber composites), which enable lightweight construction and are used primarily in an industrial context. The idea of sustainability and the use of bio-based raw materials form the most important cornerstones of the company. Since 2021, BPREG has been a partner of BÜFA Thermoplastic Composites with its flat fiber-reinforced prepregs and semi-finished products.
BPREG’s products combine lightweight construction technologies and sustainability thanks to natural fibers. The result is bio-based composites with short cycle times and high design flexibility. BPREG’s various flax fiber-based prepregs are ideal for use in interior design (wall panels, aircraft interior trim, designer furniture) or noise control (noise barriers).
BPREG’s natural fiber composites (NFC) enable the production of end products with lower environmental impact, low weight (ideal for lightweight construction) and high mechanical performance.
The advantages of the forward-looking Turkish company’s products are summarized at a glance:
BPREG’s NFCs are among the best performing sustainable material solutions for industrial applications. They allow companies to cost-effectively switch to more environmentally friendly alternatives with similar to the same material properties.
In total, BPREG’s product portfolio contains four material families with different solutions for different application requirements:
Thermoplastic-based prepregs reinforced with unidirectional (UD) flax fibers. These fibers are carbon neutral, renewable and lightweight. EcoRein® UD solutions are suitable for all thermoforming processes and are compatible with various materials such as nonwovens, wovens, decorative fabrics and those with honeycomb structures.
This thermoplastic prepreg is reinforced with biaxially oriented flax fibers in the form of woven fabrics. The interconnected flax fibers in various weave patterns make the material extremely flexible and facilitate manual handling.
This technical fabric is also based on flax fibers, which are ideally suited for use in thermoset and thermoplastic composites. With its diverse weave patterns, the EcoRein® Dry Fabric family offers sustainable alternatives for reinforcing materials. The material can be processed either with thermoset resins by vacuum infusion and resin transfer molding (RTM) or by compression molding.
This is a multilayer flat laminate based on EcoRein® UD and EcoRein® Woven fiber fabrics. The advantages of BPREG’s Plates are their flat laminate structure and the shortening of production cycles, as preparatory processes such as cutting and placing layers and pre-consolidation steps are no longer necessary. EcoRein® panels are ideal in load-bearing applications as well as sound barriers.
In 2021, BÜFA Thermoplastic Composites was able to win the young company BPREG as a cooperation partner. The flat fiber-reinforced prepregs have been available in BÜFA’s product range since then and strengthen the focus on sustainable fiber composites in the product portfolio.
