The MaruHachi Group was founded in 1936 and is headquartered in Fukui in Japan. The family-owned company develops and manufactures novel fabrics with approximately 80 employees. Since the early 2000s, the company has focused on innovative thermoplastic composites, primarily thermoplastic tapes (UD tapes), organo sheets and preforms (near-net-shape preforms).

The basis of MaruHachi’s products includes unidirectional reinforcing fibers made of glass, carbon and aramid with matrices of PE, PP, TPU, PA6, PA/L, PPS, PEI, PES, LCP and PEEK.
UD tapes are continuous fiber-reinforced tapes in which glass or carbon fibers are embedded in a thermoplastic matrix. They can be produced particularly thin. As a result, they are very light, but still exhibit high stability. After use, UD tapes can be recycled. This and also the efficient processing, high toughness, heavy flammability as well as conductivity speak for the use of UD tapes.
Organosheets are fabrics impregnated with thermoplastics. Their mechanical properties exceed those of conventional metal sheets. With the aid of thermoforming organosheets can be easily formed into almost any desired component shape. They are particularly frequently used to produce dynamic structures for the automotive, electronics, sports, construction/civil engineering and consumer goods sectors.
The use of thermoplastics has several advantages. Including, among others:

BÜFA Thermoplastic Composites is specializing in the distribution of raw materials and semi-finished products. These are used for the production of components made of long and continuous fiber-reinforced thermoplastics.
In 2019 Büfa Thermoplastic Composites expanded its portfolio with MaruHachi’s products and is the official distributor for their UD tapes as well as organic sheets in Europe.
